"We're not monkeys. Stop asking."

Films: Blood Monkey (2007)

Alias: None

Type: Ancient

Location: Jungle/Cave

Height/Weight: Twice that of an average human.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: We take you to the deepest reaches of the African jun-oh, wait this is Thailand. Never mind. Oh well, the new frontier of jungle terrors await!

History: Deep within the Thailand jungles, there are tales of giant apes, not monkeys, residing and killing anyone who dares enter their turf. For a rogue anthropologist and the new research team he's acquired (the last one got eaten), it's a discovery that cannot be missed. But the Blood Monkeys, they're apes but just go with it, are not keen on letting their existence go noticed so easily...

Notable Kills: That anthropologist is later killed by an elaborate bamboo-club trap the Blood Monkeys set up.

Final Fate: After just about everyone is killed...the rest are killed. Everyone has died horribly to the vicious hands of the Blood Monkey. Probably for the best that no other expeditions are carried out.

Powers/Abilities: The Blood Monkeys are intelligent enough to set up traps for killing prey.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-Gorillas that set up traps? What could be scarier than that? A lot of things actually. For one, we rarely see them, and when we do, the shoddy CGI is too bad to bear. Time to send these simians to club disappointment.

Trivia: -This is the first film in the RHI-produced "Maneater series". We've actually already covered some of the films in this series, but they are all part of a deal with the Syfy channel to make at least ten films about animals/monsters running amok.

-There have been cases of ape men being sighted in Southeast Asia. An example is the Orang Pendek, a Sumatran beast whose name means "short person", and has been sighted hundreds of times by locals.

No wonder we never see that side in documentaries. It's camera shy in this film.
Why couldn't we go there instead?
A new type of Monkey Shines.
"EXTREME CLOSE-UP!"
